Say it in Rarotonganmanastrickland sm

An instant introduction to the common language of the Cook Islands

This little book introduces you to Rarotongan, the common language throughout the Cook Islands. An acquaintance with it will make you feel even more at home among these friendly people, and help you to better understand Cook Island culture.

The author, Mana Strickland, was a leading authority on the Polynesian language and on the history of the Cook Islands. He had a distinguished record in the field of local education, being a former principal of Rarotonga’s largest primary school, a Senior Teacher Trainer at the Cook Island Teachers’ College and also served as Minister for Education in the early years of self-government.

His contribution to education and the community was recognised in 1989 when he was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) and again in 1995 when he was awarded an Honorary Master Degree from the University of the South Pacific.
